woodland beach

16x20 oil and cold wax on canvas

Coming upon an historic farm house, you are caught by the scene as you approach. The daffodils are posing in front of you, leading into an area of marsh reeds, with the farmhouse looking out over it all. Makes you think of how it might have been to live here back in the day.

I came across this photo in a posting on Instagram by “UDMustard”, and he granted permission for me to do a painting from it. It is the McKay House, built 1780-1830, on the border between Smyrna and Woodland Beach. I used the name ”Woodland Beach” because with all the reeds it seems the house is sitting up on the shore.

Signed and numbered prints from this painting are also available, 8x10 image size.
